{"id":6498,"date":"2014-01-26T22:22:35","date_gmt":"2014-01-26T22:22:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sellanycar.com\/cars-related\/?p=6498"},"modified":"2014-01-26T22:22:35","modified_gmt":"2014-01-26T22:22:35","slug":"campaign-make-ajmans-road-safer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/18.202.220.25\/en\/guides\/campaign-make-ajmans-road-safer\/","title":{"rendered":"Campaign to make Ajman\u2019s road safer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As reported by the Emirati news agency WAM, traffic crashes have been cut down owing to a safety campaign launched in the emirate of Ajman.<\/p>\n<p>The official report reveals that the number of pedestrians being run over in the emirate has fell off by 7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>According to Brigade Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Deputy Commander of Ajman Police, there were 199 serious accidents in the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>There were 92 accidents last year in which someone was hit by a vehicle, compared with 99 in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Fewer on-the-spot tickets were issued to drivers \u2013 59,593, a slight decrease from the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>Offences detected by radars fell by 6 per cent, while impounded vehicles \u2013 about 4,090 \u2013 rose by 2 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The number of revoked licenses fell by 44 percent, from 430 in 2012 to 242 last year.<\/p>\n<p>And there were 17,030 new cars on Ajman\u2019s roads last year from 13,849 the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>Brig. Al Nuaimi pointed out that 33 high-tech speed cameras had been fixed up on Ajman\u2019s roads, with plans for more on the Sheikh Khalifa and Sheikh Ammar bridges.<\/p>\n<p>He declared that Ajman Police were working all its utmost to deliver the highest rates of safety to road users.<\/p>\n<p><b>About Ajman: <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Ajman<\/b> (<a title=\"Arabic language\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Arabic_language\">Arabic<\/a>: \u0639\u062c\u0645\u0627\u0646\u200e <i>\u02bfA\u01e7m\u0101n<\/i>), also spelt <i>Ujman<\/i>, is one of the seven <a title=\"Emirates of the United Arab Emirates\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emirates_of_the_United_Arab_Emirates\">emirates<\/a> constituting the <a title=\"United Arab Emirates\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Arab_Emirates\">United Arab Emirates (UAE)<\/a>. Approximately 95% of the population of the emirate resides in the city of Ajman, which forms part of the <a title=\"Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman_metropolitan_area\">Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area<\/a>. The population was only 36,000 in 1980 but grew considerably in recent years, due to an influx of people from the neighbouring emirates of <a title=\"Dubai\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dubai\">Dubai<\/a>, <a title=\"Sharjah (emirate)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sharjah_(emirate)\">Sharjah<\/a>, and other countries. Ajman is ruled by <a title=\"Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sheikh_Humaid_bin_Rashid_Al_Nuaimi\">Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi<\/a> of the <a title=\"Al Nuaimi\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Al_Nuaimi\">Al Nuaimi<\/a> tribe. The Crown Prince of the Emirate is <a title=\"Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi (page does not exist)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Sheikh_Ammar_bin_Humaid_Al_Nuaimi&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi<\/a>. Ajm\u0101n has experienced massive development and a construction boom in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>History: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>On 8 January 1820, Sheikh Rashid II ibn Humayd Al Nuaimi signed the General Maritime Treaty with Britain, accepting a protectorate to keep the Ottoman Turks out.
