Almost 7,000 luxury cars in the UAE are thought to have been affected by a vehicle recall caused by concerns over their power-braking system.<\/p>\n
Last week, the BMW Group announced a worldwide recall of its eight- and 12-cylinder BMW 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars models produced between July 2001 and November 2009.<\/p>\n
The company confirmed on Wednesday that 6,296 BMW and 485 Rolls-Royce vehicles could be affected in the UAE.<\/p>\n
Local importers and dealers have started to contact customers and request a vehicle check-up. For those cars that have been affected, BMW Group said the fault correction would take between one and four hours.<\/p>\n
It said there would be no cost to the consumer.<\/p>\n
”The safety of our customers is paramount to us. We will continue to work closely with our importers to ensure a smooth and seamless execution of this service campaign,” said Phil Horton, managing director of BMW Group Middle East.<\/p>\n
A separate Rolls-Royce release indicated that no Ghost models had been affected.<\/p>\n
\u201cNone of our Rolls-Royce customers have reported any problems, especially that this issue\u00a0concerns older vehicles with a high mileage,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe it is highly unlikely that Rolls-Royce customers will be affected,\u00a0but as\u00a0a responsible manufacturer of luxury vehicles it is\u00a0certainly appropriate that we react to the campaign by our parent, BMW Group, to recall these cars and ensure our customers\u2019 vehicles are properly checked and\u00a0re-worked at their convenience.
